1. BRIAN O’CONNOR Question 1: Does Noosa Council adhere to this position in respect of parking at Pomona: [QUOTE] "The Noosa Council Traffic Study 2017-32 identified that, while variations in parking demand occurred, overall Pomona has sufficient parking ... the available parking outside the busy market period indicates that a high level of parking availability services during non-peak periods is being provided at Pomona. AND "There are no plans for further parking infrastructure in the 10-year Capital Works Program for Pomona." [UNQUOTE] Response from Larry Sengstock, Director Infrastructure Services Based on results from the Noosa council traffic study in 2017 and a recent review of parking carried out in 2021, it is considered that there is sufficient existing parking supply to meet the demand for parking in the Pomona study area to 2031. When considering parking supply and demand across the study area, parking demand in Pomona does not currently exceed 75% of parking supply therefore no immediate intervention is required. As such there is no funds budgeted for car parking in Pomona in the 10 year capital program as this aligns and reflects with our planning. We acknowledge that parking availability can fluctuate particularly during busy periods, but from the information we have there is no need for additional off street parking in the area”. Question 2: Can Noosa Council please identify definitively the site, building structure or dedicated location where the people of Pomona can conduct commemorative services and stand or sit in solemn contemplation of those who gave their lives in wartime conflict to preserve our freedoms and Australian way of life. Response from Kerri Contini, Director Community Services Pomona has a number of locations which commemorate the people who served in and died as a result of war including the Pomona Memorial School of Arts Hall and the Memorial Rotunda. The Memorial Hall also includes the Roll of Honour boards for those people from Pomona and Cootharaba districts who died in service in World War I. The Rotunda is located within Joe Bazzo Park and is generally open at all times for people to sit in. Commemorative services on public land will be considered upon application.
