Services & Organisation Committee Meeting - September 2023 Transcript

Tuesday 12 September 2023 · 10 minutes of recording · 55 lines · 4 voices, 1 named

This is a machine transcript of council's recording, produced by automatic speech recognition and not checked line by line against the video. Councillor and place names are corrected where a human has approved the correction; everything else is what the model heard. Quote the recording, not this page — every timestamp below opens council's own video at that second. Recording © Noosa Shire Council; the transcript is ours, made from it so the meeting can be searched and read.

Speakers: the machine separated 4 voices and names 1 of them — only where the recording itself establishes who it is (they introduced themselves, were called on by name, or their voice matches meetings where they were). The others stay “Speaker N”. Hover a name to see why it is there.

00:00:00 Councillor Lorentson: Welcome everyone to the services and organisation meeting today Tuesday 12th of September 2023. I declare the meeting open. First I'd like to begin by an acknowledgement to the country. I would like to respectfully acknowledge the Kabi Kabi people as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters that form the region we call Noosa. Council pays its respects to Elders past, present and future and welcomes the ongoing role that Indigenous people play within the Noosa community. Attendance and apology. We have one apology by the Mayor, Councillor Stewart. I note that Councillor Wilkie and Councillor Joe Juricevic is in attendance. And I also note Councillor Finzel and Councillor Tom Wegener are in the gallery.

00:01:00 Speaker 3: Councillor Wegener's just left the room. Councillor Lorentson: Okay. Councillor Wegener, can I just note, Councillor Wegener's just left the room. Got that. And expecting to return. Oh, I can. Can I please request before commencing the meeting that everyone have their phones on. Thank you. Any other comments on the settlement? All turned off. I go to today's services and organisation committee. Confirmation of minutes. There are no confirmation of minutes. Yes. Excuse me. I'm moving. Sorry. Move, Senator. Thank you. Vote please or in favour. Thank you. Presentations deputations. There are no presentations. There's no presentations, there's no deputations, there's no reports for consideration on the committee, there's no reports for noting by the committee. We're going straight to item seven, a confidential session.

00:02:00 Discussions relating to a confidential session will be going behind closed doors, but before moving to a closed session, I would like to ask the CEO the reasons for confidentiality and is this a normal process? Speaker 2: We're talking about a confidential matter because it's a tender and an award of a tender, and I believe that these are best handled in a confidential session with council laws because they contain confidentiality. There's information and information that's commercially sensitive. So it's better that we do it in a closed session. Councillor Lorentson: Thank you. Any questions to the councillors? Speaker 3: No, I'll move to the meeting closed to the public this year, section 254J.

00:03:00 Of the local government regulation, for the purpose of discussing item 7.1 regarding legal advice and negotiations relating to a commercial matter. Councillor Lorentson: Seconder? Councillor Hockney? Correct. Speaker 1: Thank you.

00:09:00 Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you. Councillor Lorentson: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. So nice short meeting today. I now declare the meeting closed at 1.40 p.m.
