What the minutes record

MATHEW HOFFMAN Question 1: As part of the Strategic Dog Exercise Area Review, we request community consultation regarding dog access at Beach Access 37, a primary local hub. Could Council please confirm the timing and process for community consultation on this proposal? Response from Richard MacGillivray, Director Development & Regulation Council appreciates you raising this information regarding dog exercise arrangements at Beach Access 37 and recognises that there are likely to be a range of community views on this matter. These views include support for maintaining existing arrangements, as well as proposals to expand or modify off-leash access. Any changes to designated dog exercise areas would require careful consideration of community feedback, environmental impacts, public safety, accessibility and legislative requirements. Council intends to consider community feedback on dog exercise areas as part of a future review of its Local Laws. The Local Law review process is proposed to be considered through future budget deliberations, with the next opportunity likely to be through the 2027-28 budget process. Should Council resolve to proceed with a review, it will be undertaken in accordance with the State Government's prescribed framework and will include formal community consultation before any changes are determined.
